There’s this Facebook group I’m a part of made up of moms from in and around Kingston who all have babies roughly the same age. I’ve never been a part of something so magical. Honestly. Magical is the word. Most of the people in this group are total strangers to me but we rely on each other and we’ve gotten through a lot together. I would say that these women (along with Tarra from the FFM and my besties and family) are almost fully responsible for my confidence in starting this photography journey. Let alone turning it into a business. It was The Moms who rallied together that first year I offered red truck minis and raised so much money for charity, it’s The Moms who keep doing that same thing year after year, it’s The Moms that make up 38% of my client base (more than any other demographic), and it’s The Moms who, if my husband and I ever have a question about something kid-related in Kingston, are our first resource.
It’s become a saying in our house “We need to ask The Moms” because they just always know. My husband is mad that there isn’t an equivalent group for dads (I guess there is… but let’s be honest nothing compares to the power of a group of moms in the know)
The Kingston Moms are one of the first places I go to test out the popularity of a minis day idea. So when I asked about interest in wildflower minis, I really shouldn’t have been surprised that not only did people hype me up on the post and in my messages (seriously, they are the most supportive) but one of them even offered her family farm in a private message for the photos. The kindness of strangers always makes me so emotional. I told her I would absolutely love to use her farm and obviously would love to do her family photos in exchange.
She and her family have been so incredibly generous and welcoming. I’ve done so many sessions on their farm now (it is literally gorgeous) and The H family has even offered it up for our annual Red Truck minis for the NICU this year so we have a location a little closer to the east end mamas too. At the time of this post, I only have 5 of these red truck minis left available and we've raised more than our goal for the NICU. I’ll forever be grateful to these amazing women and the H family and I have a few more plans we’d like to put into action in the new year 👀
